When I first joined Gomiigo, I was assigned to design dungeon-style levels for Brick Kingdom and Hero Dungeon War.
The programmer had already completed the framework, allowing us to generate buildings, terrain, enemies, and items dynamically using a .csv configuration file.
The .csv looked like this:
| ID | POS_X | POS_Y | TYPE | MODEL_ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0 | 0 | BUILDING | 32 |
The system was simple and flexible—designers could change levels without touching code.
However, since there was no visualized map, I began sketching level layouts in Excel:

Even with this approach, I quickly realized:
.csv files took too much time.To solve this, I decided to build a Python tool that automatically converts my Excel layouts into .csv level files.
